  • Step back in time with these newly renovated grade 2 listed barns and the bothy dating back from 1666. Our self catering barns and bothy are the ideal venue for a chilled out glamping experience!

    Situated in the Village centre opposite the pub makes it an ideal location to explore this area of The Lake District and The Northern Fells.

    The Cumbria Way walk and various Cycle route pass through the village including The Reivers cycle route. The Wainwright Fells of the north Lake District are within walking distance and a brisk walk up High Pike can be done directly from the village. With many pretty villages to visit on quiet roads, this is an ideal base for a cycling holiday. Mountain bikers can explore trails around the “Back Of Skiddaw fells. Mountain bike up to Skiddaw House have a coffee, then explore your way back via Mosedale to Caldbeck.

     

    The village has plenty of amenities including Shop & Petrol Station, Hairdressers, Arts & Crafts Centre, Hesta Scene Gift shop, Fairtrade shop, Farm Diary Shop, Pub (including take-away service), and 2 cafe`s!!! There are also tennis courts open to the public and recycling centre next to the village hall. All within a 5 minute walk of the barns!

  • Wainwrights

    Perfectly situated at the foot of The Northern Fells! Get ready to tick off a few Wainwrights. An ordnance Survey map is available in each barn for use of the guests whilst staying. Here`s 5 of our favorites!

    High Pike

    2,159Ft

    located 4.5 kilometres south of Caldbeck it is the most northerly of the Lakeland fells over 2000 feet. Simply leave our glamping barns and follow the Cumbrian Way up to High Pike. Allow 3 hours from start to finish!

    Carrock Fell

    2,169Ft

    The fell's name means "Rock Fell", from the Cumbric carrec, meaning a rock, and Old Norse fjall, meaning a fell. Can be taken in by extending your walk from High Pike! Maps are provided in each barn.

    Longlands Fell

    1,585Ft

    Small fell that is situated in the high ground known as the Uldale Fells, 5.5 kilometres south west of the village of Caldbeck. One of our personal favourites as the views on a clear day are breathtaking!

    Brae Fell

    1,923Ft

    A fell that is regarded as part of the Caldbeck Fells along with High Pike and Carrock Fell even though it has ridge links to the Uldale Fells. The fell's name has Scottish overtones and translates from the Scots language as a hillside or slope. Combine this walk including Longlands!

    Binsey

    1,467Ft

    Detached from the rest of the Lakeland hills, and thus provides a good spot to look out at the Northern and North Western Fells of the Lake District, as well as the coastal plain and, across the Solway Firth, Scotland and Snaefell on the Isle of Man is also visible on a clear day. It is the northernmost of the Wainwrights.

    The Cumbria Way

    Following tracks & paths. It passes Coniston Water, Tarn Hows and Dungeon Ghyll and crosses the Stake Pass to Borrowdale, Derwent Water and Keswick. The Way continues to Caldbeck over High Pike, and then follows the Caldew valley to Carlisle. 70 miles in total.

  • Weekend Bookings

    Caldbeck Barns & Bothy are available as a complete site. Nightly price is from £630 from the 1st of January 2025. Please contact us regarding weekly stays.

    Mid-Week Bookings

    The barns and bothy can be booked as individual units (Sunday-Thursday). Prices from: Hayloft £255 per night, High Pike £200 per night & The Bothy & Sauna £145 per night from the 1st of January 2025

    Camping (ideal for larger groups)

    Please contact us directly for overnight stays in a tent. Please note we can only allow tent spaces if one of the barns has also been booked. This will give you access to shower, toilet & kitchen facilities etc (£15 per person)

    Bedding

    Bedding can be provided for small groups. The cost is £30 per person for the duration of there stay.
